Liz’s Wedding Part 2
Having known Liz & Neil ever since our university days, I was struck by how easily they meshed together – which I believe, is the ultimate “high” one can get in any relationship. Being with someone who knows you, who somehow just “gets” you, and wholly enjoys you just for who you are… it’s really a pretty awesome feeling :) & in the aftermath of hearing their vows in the morning church ceremony, I can’t adequately put into words just how moved I was. & yes, my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes are to them both! :)

The pictures certainly don’t do the wedding justice, because it was far more beautiful than what you see here (even though the photographers were very good!) Rather, it was the entire ambience of having lots of happy friends and family at the wedding – & I’ll gladly say that never before have I been to a wedding where not a single table was quiet and awkward. My boyfriend and I stared hard and long at the tables in the room and we couldn’t find a table that was gloomy. i.e. seating people at a wedding is a crucial, crucial step!

What I loved best about the wedding decor was definitely their personalized items – very scrapbookish and cute! I couldn’t help but oogle them as we registered at their booth. The blue box on the right is where we slotted our ang pows of prosperity & blessings for the newlyweds :)

As we sat back to enjoy our 6 course western style dinner, a jazz singer entertained us with her lovely voice. Though her voice wasn’t as memorable as say, Christina Anguilera, we all agreed that it was perfect as “background” music. Extremely soothing and not too loud so she didn’t disturb our conversation, but it really lent to the overall ambience of the wedding.
The beautiful bride had just one change from her white wedding dress, to a cheongsam in a gorgeous green.
& as befitted the groom, neil couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear. haha!
Our joy for the happy couple aside, the second most exciting thing at the wedding was definitely the photographers of Livestudio . With their concept of wireless photography, any photo they took of the guests was instantly uploaded onto the huge screen! We were so amazed (well, the girls were..) and really impressed at how well they had utilized wireless technology (this, my bf was really impressed by). Moreover, less than half an hour after our pictures were taken, little polaroid-sized photographs were given to each of us as a keepsake! Truly an experience worth remembering, & it made the wedding a very personalized experience, even for the guests.

Altogether, a wonderful experience & it was accentuated all the more by the guest-of-honour, who was someone I really didn’t expect.

& he was certainly a very happy man to see his grand niece married to such a fine young stud. :D plus, he won the presidency 2 days prior to the wedding too!
So with all the blessings in my heart, Neil & Elizabeth, I wish you the best of married life! May you two find joy, companionship, love and friendship in each other, until your twilight years❤
LSAG Soccer!!
I’m not so much of a sports person, but when it comes to the arty farty stuff, I’m always happy to please :)

2 hours spent sketching & painting, not bad eh? :)
With so many years between me and the long-forgotten days of junior college art classes, I quite surprised myself at how I accomplished the task set before me. Certainly, it was made much easier because I had a design to imitate (the tee), but it was otherwise a confidence-boosting artistic exercise. I’ll definitely be sketching more in my free time now! :)
I love how family-like my office is. Everyone cares about everyone else and eating meals together is this massive sharing exercise, which I love to bits. & who can forget all the fun scheming we have every birthday?
I think that with every office environment, comes a different and mixed set of people. & it’s not always about how great your personality is that results in how well you fit in, it’s also about how welcoming the people there already are! So yes, to those who’ve been asking questions – nope, my pay is not sky high; nope, it’s not truly my dream job, but I wake up every morning looking forward to work each day, & that my friend, is not something easily traded for any amount of cash :)
Got a huge presentation tmrw and I’m all set & ready to goo!!

Florals & Denim
Being on a holiday means I have loads of time to prep before an outing, so yesterday I decided to do yet another Anna Sui-inspired outfit, but instead of my previous crochet + floral look, I decided to go for denim + prints, though I didn’t go all the way as I don’t yet have a full denim piece, as seen on those on the Spring 2011 runway.
Cotton On Tanktop, Delias Skirt and Denim Shrug from Double Index
I love this floral skirt from Delias and usually wear it high waisted, and having a nude coloured tank top is always great to pair with patterned stuff. I used to steer away from anything plain coloured or clothing lacking detail, but now I’m learning how to match them with my heavily patterned pieces for some balance.
As my friends were slightly late, I sat down at my favourite coffee place Spinelli’s and tried out their Gingerbread Spin, [$6.60] an ice blended coffee with gingerbread cookies ground up and added to the mix. It wasn’t too bad but I felt that it didn’t have enough of a gingerbread kick, so I was slightly disappointed. Their Original Spin still remains my top favourite.
Spinelli’s @ Nex is fast becoming my favourite coffee place to hang out, as it’s so close to my place and has comfortable seats in a spacious area. Though I’d admit that I dislike the insane number of ceiling lights they have above the place (which is part of the design of Nex Mall, WHY???) because they’re quite glaring and hypnotic, particularly when they change colours… it’s still a great place to chill and chat with friends, or just to read a book, which I did for all of 5 minutes til my friends arrived :)
My friend Huilin had returned from her solo grad trip to Tokyo (she’s so brave!) and we exchanged stories and souvenirs from our trips to Japan. I passed her and Kaelyn the yummylicious Hokkaido Lover Chocolates and she gave Kaelyn and I each 2 cute sachets of tea
I continue to be absolutely amazed and intrigued by how innovative the Japanese are when it comes to packaging. They certainly take pride in how the present their products, and it even translates to personal style as they take pride in how they present themselves to people as well. That I think, is one thing we should learn from. Presenting yourself to others well shows pride in your self, as well as respect to other people because you make the effort to look good! The best part is, when you know or feel that you look good, you feel great and more confident as well :)

Deepavali
Given that we hadn’t been meeting up often due to school work & whatnot, Deepavali was finally a chance for us to meet up. We decided to dinner at Mad For Garlic at Suntec City, which is one of our favourite restaurants to go for great food, a nice ambiance and great service.

Pardon the low quality pics – the interior of the restaurant was rather dark, which makes for a very cosy and romantic atmosphere… but not very good for photo taking. Our favourites of the night were definitely the Garlic Bread Tower (appetizer), Garlic Snowing Pizza, Garlic Butter Prawns, Seafood Salad and Garlic Steak. Unlike most restaurants, Edeline’s seafood salad was literally overflowing with seafood, whilst my boyfriend’s Garlic Butter Prawns had about 30 prawns (at my estimation). They were definitely generous with the ingredients, making it all the more worthwhile. With the citibank card promotion available, we also had the opportunity to try out their Signature ades (orangeade, yujaade, lemonade and another drink i can’t recall). They were very interesting and not as “fake” tasting as Fish & Co’s Passion & Kola Tonic.
artistic garlic drawing with cocoa powder that came with our tiramisu
Restaurant Rating:
Food: Yummylicious, but strictly for garlic lovers. Loads of garlic in every dish. bring a mint! Deliciousness of every dish is consistent, & since we’ve been there >3 times, standards have not changed 9/10
Service: Very attentive and courteous staff. We didn’t even need to ask for ice water. However, when the place got busier, service was understandably slower. 8.5/10
Ambiance: We love the interior decorations, extremely cosy and most tables are separated by partitions so noise from other tables is less jarring to the conversation. 9.5/10
Cost: We had appetizers, main courses + 1 extra main course to share, dessert (tiramisu) and drinks, about $20-30 per pax, which was quite reasonable for the huge amount of food we ate 9/10
Overall rating: 9/10
We then proceeded to walk on towards the ilightmarinabay exhibits near the Esplanade but because there were many people milling around and the weather wasn’t too friendly, we headed towards Max Brenner’s Chocolate Bar instead. What gluttons we are! Instead, we saw one of the interior exhibits of the Esplanade whilst walking to dessert.
To capture it all, I used my camera’s Stitch-assist function to create a panoramic shot but as one can tell, I wasn’t so good at putting the pieces together. It’s still interesting though how the artist put together so many contorted figures of mixed media together! We couldn’t decide whether they were captured in a moment of dance or pain or contortionist movement.
We especially loved the cups for the chocolate drinks – plus the way they were designed were just so apt with the word descriptions.
Kel declared he was still 60% full so I took a few bites from this double fudge chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. I love strawberries! They go so well with chocolate. *yums*
Restaurant Rating
Food: yummylicious, though my boyfriend mentioned that our hazelnut milk chocolate drink tasted awfully similar to his protein shake, so he hated it. The dark chocolate drinks were more pleasing to the palate, but extremely rich & could not be drunk quickly. Awesome for a chocolate shock though. I wasn’t very pleased with the cake though, I thought it would be more chocolatey and awesome. 7/10
Service: It was alright, but they were also extremely busy that evening 7/10
Ambiance: We were lucky & got a seat in the far interior of the restaurant, where it was relatively quiet so we could comfortably speak and hear each other quite well. seats were cosy, table & utensils were very clean 8.5/10
Cost: Max Brenner’s definitely isn’t somewhere you go whenever you feel like it, (coz of the calorie count!) but it’s not too expensive either. Price range from $6+ to $40+ (for sharing). Rather pricey compared to say, chocolate milk tea, but the chocolate content is much more, though I wouldn’t say that their milk chocolate is that much better than cadbury, or that their dark chocolate triumphs the quality of Lindt. 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 7/10
In the Deepavali festive spirit, we were quite startled and amused to see a boy running around in his batman costume
Clearly he wasn’t over the Halloween spirit yet! He was running back and forth so I couldn’t get a clear shot of him – plus my hands were shaky because I was laughing at his antics of clinging to walls and swinging around pillars. & if my ears were not fooled, he was humming the Batman theme song to himself whilst engaging in his “stunts”. It only took him about 5 minutes to get an eager audience watching.
& though it didn’t exactly match my outfit, I decided to paint my nails to suit the festive spirit of the night!

Simply because I was in a hurry, I neglected to use a bottom coat and regretted it about a week later, because my nails had turned orange :S Since I’ve never used Sally Hansen without a base coat, I never realised that this would be the result. So now I’m letting my nails rest & recover their original colour. The glitter polishes are of a transparent base with medium sized glitter flecks. I got them for RM1 each when I went to Genting Highlands earlier this year. 2 coats of Gold and 1 coat of Silver glitter was used in my nail look above, because Deepavali privileges a more gold look, but I decided to soften it with Silver as well.
