TV is back!!
With Ruth flying away to the Land of the Rising Sun, I have little to keep me occupied aside from TV shows. And I am so glad that September’s here and all my shows are back!
And it all started with a Big Bang…
Season 5 continues from where we left off with Penny leaving Leonard’s apartment exclaiming “It’s not what you think” and Raj looking rather sheepish while everyone looks on with quizzical looks on their faces. Of course Sheldon still has an uncanny way of breaking uncomfortable silences but really, with Priya back in India and Penny staying just next door to Leonard, I’m pretty sure that season 5 will see a reconciliation of Penny and Leonard! Although latest rumours see Leonard hanging out around Amy… will that get Sheldon jealous?
While the first two episodes weren’t that funny imo (second episode was plain gross. I’m scared of sofa seats now and Sheldon’s constant knocking on Penny’s door was alittle excessive in that episode), I’m confident that it’ll get better. They just need to get their swing back. A pairing that I would love to see? Penny and Sheldon! I mean, if opposites attract, then these two are it! I can imagine Penny singing “Soft Kitty” to Sheldon and tucking him into bed already! *excited*
HIMYM
With Robin realising that she still has a little something for Barney and Barney going absolutely gaga over Nora, how will this work itself out? Will Barney ever want to give Robin and chance and start again? I sure hope so! I’m not liking honest “I’m a new man” Barney. Bring back the suave ladies man!
Now that Ted’s met Victoria AGAIN, after being the absolute jerk he was before, will she want to start over? And Lily and Marshall are starting a family hurray! How will this change the dynamics of the group? Can’t wait to find out this season!
Gossip Girl
Ok, admittedly GOssip Girl has a weak plot. I mean, fake cousins, engagement entanglement, backstabbing and thievery? So melodramatic. But writers are going to try to normalise things in the Upper East Side with Serena finding a proper job as a PA and actually doing pretty decent! But then she meets Charlie/Ivy. How is that going to pan out?
And of course, Blair is preggies. Is it the Prince’s or Chuck’s? Will that derail the engagement? And what’s Dan going to do when he finds out? Is he willing to be a baby’s daddy for a second time? Then there’s Vanessa and the whole drama of publishing Dan’s novel exposing secrets of the Upper East Side. That’s gotta be interesting and lastly, there’s Liz Hurley’s character who is cleverly manipulating Nate. Sounds crappy and weak but I’m unabashed when I say, hello guilty pleasure.
Glee
It’s the final year for everyone except Artie and Tina and they’ve got alot to prove. With Blaine on board, will this give New Directions an edge or will this mean complete utter destruction? In other news, Quinn has gone all bad ass and she and Lauren have left New Directions? Will they come back or join Shelby’s new club? And where will Glee Project’s Damian and Samuel fit in? Can’t wait for episode 4 to see Damian’s debut!
The Amazing Race (S19)
I cannot believe that TAR has been around for such a long time! This latest season, we see Survivor couple Ethan and Jenna try their luck at winning yet another million dollars. How will the contestants react to that? There was no lack of drama in the first episode with twins getting stuck at the Confucian roadblock, unable to memorise and recall a phrase and Kaylani and Lisa got majorly delayed cos of a lost passport (Yikes!) but elderly couple, Bill and Cathy came in last after spending more than 4 hours searching for a clue and were the last to arrive.
However, in a new spin to things, no one got eliminated. Instead, two teams will get the boot in the next leg of the race! That’s soooo exciting! I can’t wait!
And it all started with a Big Bang: Sheldon
After several weeks, we have come down to our very last geek, Dr Sheldon Cooper. Sheldon is the most interesting of the lot as many of us would agree. He is neurotic, unreasonable, eccentric, loves routine (where do I start? They always eat chinese food, he uses the toilet at 8am every morning, knocks on Penny’s door 3 times exclaiming her name…) and he’s super OCD. He loves trains, laughs as if he is gasping for air, always has a witty, sarcastic comeback line and has coined the term “meemah,” “coitis” and of course who can ever forget… “bazinga!” Here’s a rundown on Sheldon’s style…
Mrs. Fowler: It’s nice to meet you too, Sheldon. I honestly didn’t believe Amy when she told me she had a boyfriend.
Sheldon Cooper: I assure you I am quite real. And I’m having regular intercourse with your daughter.
Mrs. Fowler: [in a surprised tone] What?
Sheldon Cooper: Oh, yes. We’re like wild animals in heat. It’s a wonder that neither of us has been hurt.
Mrs. Fowler: [scared] Amy, what is he saying?
Amy Farrah Fowler: You wanted me to have a boyfriend, mother. Well, here he is.
[Sheldon waves at the computer screen, while Mrs. Fowler nervously waves back]
Amy Farrah Fowler: I have to sign off now. My hunger for Sheldon is stirring in my loins.
Sheldon Cooper: Oh yes. It’s time for me to make love to your daughter’s vagina.
Sheldon’s style is the most clean and easy to recreate out of all the boys. He is always wearing a comic-book inspired t-shirt. It’s either the Flash, Batman or some superhero or the other. Underneath it though, he has a long sleeve shirt that is rolled up and he pairs that with jeans and covered shoes. I decided to use ballet flats here so it’ll be more feminine. Somehow I think the bow on the shoes complements the bat logo or maybe it’s just a figment of my imagination lol.

And it all started with a Big Bang: Leonard
Today we are going to look at Leonard, admittedly my least favourite character out of the foursome. As much as his devotion to Penny is laudable, I find him a little too needy and somehow or another, I don’t think he is as fleshed out a character as the others. He doesn’t have the Jewish-mock-myself humour that Howard has, no exotic Indian auto-mute-when-in-contact-with-opposite-sex appeal of Raj, nor is he as neurotic and exasperating as Sheldon. Maybe, he is seemingly less interesting because he is the most NORMAL.
And perhaps his role in the show is to be Penny’s love interest, thereby proving that it is possible for a geek to snag a hot babe, raising hopes in geeks everywhere! Whoa, talk about new perspective! haha, anyhow, here are some of Leonard’s awesome quotes:
Sheldon: I often forget other people have limitations. It’s so sad.
Howard: He can feel sadness?
Leonard: Not really. It’s what you and I would call condescension.
Sheldon: Everyone at the university knows I eat breakfast at 8:00 and move my bowels at 8:20.
Leonard: Yes, how did we live before Twitter?
Leonard is usually seen in many layers namely, a t-shirt, hoodie and a jacket over. He gives me a rather grungy impression (God knows why). I think it’s the cargo pants, the olive and khaki colour palette, the bulkiness of everything put together… Well, I’ve tried to streamline it alittle more so it would look more flattering on the female body. So that means cropped skinny cargos, peeptoe heels, a fitted jacket and a cross-body bag.

And it all started with a Big Bang: Howard
It is mid week and it’s time for another BBT inspired fashion post. As promised, we are looking at Howard Wolowitz. Out of the four, Howard gives me the heebie jeebies. This dude is under some delusion that he is a stud, a gift to all women kind. *shivers* I have no idea what Bernadette sees in this mummy’s boy. But I guess the show wouldn’t be half as fascinating if it wasn’t for the digs at his Jewish ancestry, his unique brand of humor (I say unique cos I have no other means to describe it) and of course, his quirky fashion sense.
Leonard: Howard, this is big science. You could be the engineer who builds the equipment that puts us on the cover of magazines.
Howard: I could also be the engineer that builds the crossbow that kills Sheldon.
Howard: Hey, I’m damaged, too. How about a hug for Howie?
Howard: I am a horny engineer, I never joke about math or sex.
Howard’s style is very distinctive because he likes to match his clothing according to the same colour family. So if he is wearing a red shirt, he’ll be wearing burgundy pants. Another thing about Howard is that he is always wearing a turtleneck with a t-shirt layered over and he’s ALWAYS in bright colours. Be it electric blue pants or a bright yellow t-shirt, he is willing to go where no man has gone before. I kinda like that about him. The fact that he’s not afraid to be experimental about his dressing. Something I ought to learn since I’m Miss Muted Colours.

For someone who isn’t very good at math or science, I had doubts about whether I would even understand much less appreciate the jokes told in this series but lo and behold, I do! And I have really come to like Big Bang Theory ALOT. It’s become one of my staple tv shows that I watch religiously each week!
Aside from Sheldon’s neuroticism which I find highly annoying and entertaining at the same time, what really gets me is the clothes. If all geeks dressed like that, why, I don’t see why they wouldn’t be popular!
I love the easy style of the jeans and t-shirt combo and how the mix and match of vibrant colours make the outfit POP (especially Howard). So… here’s a fashion tribute to my favourite geeks on TV, starting off this week with Raj!
I absolutely love how Raj has dual personalities depending on who’s company he is keeping. His shyness in front of girls reminds me of the Lion from the Wizard of Oz who requires that bit of courage (well for Raj, it means swigging alcohol) before he can turn on his charm and start being an obnoxious casanova. Out of the bunch, he’s also the one who has the most random lines that are absolutely hilarious!
“How can I be a gynaecologist? I can barely look a woman in the eye!”
I’d rather swim buck naked across the Ganges river with a paper cut on my nipple than work with you.
Out of the 4 boys, Raj is the one who is always in a sweater vest and I think a timeless print has got to be argyle. Layering that over a white collared polo shirt and adding a final layer of a snazzy blue, faux fur trim jacket just pulls the entire look together so not only are you prepared to weather the chilly temperatures but you look totally geek chic to boot! Ohhh and cargo pants are so IN this season. Especially the tapered variety which looks casual yet put together at the same time. Instead of sneakers, I thought I’ll add a little feminine twist and have a bootie combination instead and I absolutely adore the red felt cap! I think it has way more chick appeal than Raj’s own baseball cap. Lol.
